Todmorden Town Hall opened in 1875 and was designed by John Gibson. The exterior of the Town Hall features a striking pediment with fine carved stonework depicting two female figures. The left hand one represents Lancashire (cotton spinning industry) and the right hand one Yorkshire (engineering and agriculture). The Town Hall was situated both in Lancashire and Yorkshire until the boundary moved in 1888. Inside, there is a mosaic set into the floor that includes the Todmorden coat of arms together with the motto 'By Industry We Prosper'. The architecture of this Grade I listed building is showcased in the beautiful main hall, with its richly ornamented ceiling and plasterwork.
