Our season
Gardens of Aranjuez, Todmorden Town Hall, Sat 14 November, 7:30pm
With guitar soloist Richard Haslam. On sale now. Included in Friends membership.
Featuring Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, a work of sunshine and longing inspired by the gardens of a Spanish Palace. Plus Doreen Carwithen’s Bishop Rock, Lili Boulanger’s D’un Matin de Printemps, and César Franck’s Symphony in D minor.
Jingle All the Way, our family concert. Todmorden College, Sun 13 December 2pm and 3:15pm
On sale now
Join storyteller Katrina Heath on a festive adventure. Along the way we’ll ride in a sleigh, board the Polar Express, sing Christmas favourites and meet some unexpected friends. This relaxed family concert is full of festive fun, musical magic and audience participation. Presented with Music for the Many, whose young musicians will be joining us in the orchestra.
Vienna Calling, Todmorden College, Sat 13 February, 7:30pm
With Todmorden pianist Antony Brannick. On sale now. Included in Friends membership.
Three composers who made Vienna the musical capital of Europe: Mozart’s sunny Piano Concerto No. 21, Schubert’s Overture in the Italian Style, and Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony. This is music with a lighter feel and lots of sparkle.
Up Close, Todmorden College, 17 April, 7:30pm, on sale soon
Pay what you decide: come along, pay what you can afford, and bring a friend.
A chance to hear the orchestra in close-up: strings alone in Nielsen’s Little Suite, winds to the fore in Doppler’s Andante and Rondo, and combined forces for Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, and Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks.
Resounding Joy, with Todmorden Choral Society, Todmorden Town Hall, Sat 26 June, 7:30pm
With cellist Jess Burroughs. On sale soon. Included in Friends membership.
Jessica Burroughs performs Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, followed by Mendelssohn’s Symphony no 2 (Hymn of Praise). Experience the resounding joy of a full orchestra and choir together, with Todmorden Choral Society joining us to end the season in full voice.
