Andrew Rostron

Andrew was born in Oldham and began learning the violin at age 9. He initially took lessons at school, later moving to the local music centre. Subsequently Andrew studied with Ann Heeks, under whom he passed grades 5-8 with distinction. Whilst studying at Manchester University Andrew took lessons from Rudolph Botta at the Royal Northern College of Music, and also led the student chamber orchestra.

Professionally Andrew works as a technical trainer and is currently employed by the Japanese camera firm, Olympus. He has always maintained his involvement with local amateur orchestras, chamber groups and music societies. He became leader of Todmorden Orchestra in 2002.
