Jeremy Carnall conducted Todmorden Orchestra for three years from 1997 - 2000, whilst studying at the Royal Northern College of Music. He was born in Norwich, and began playing the cello at the age of ten. He studied the cello at the RNCM and gained the Diane Bolton prize. He began conducting when he was at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester conducting numerous ensembles in a wide range of styles.
Jeremy Carnall went on to study conducting at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague in the Netherlands, and has since worked extensively in Holland and the UK. In 2003 he became assistant conductor with the Nationale Reisopera, conducting such productions as Peter Grimes, The Turn of the Screw, and Boris Gudonov. He has also conducted several performances with The New Opera Company. His most recent work has been in Glasgow with Scottish Opera in Mozart's Abduction form the Harem. Sung in English, this has been hailed as a triumph.
